silver double salt cellar
unfortunately this isn't a silver double salt cellar made in Russia in 1908/1917 but a piece of modern
manufacture with fake Imperial Russia marks.
The twin salt cellars have floral decoration and stand on a couple of spherical feet. The cellars have
traces of gilding in the interior and on the bottom fake 84 zolotniki hallmark (875/1000 silver purity degree)
and silversmith's mark IYM (in cyrillic).
The two salt cellars have a small rectangular connection with an hole in the middle. This signify that
the salt has lost its small container used to hold toothpicks (below you may see an example of similar
salt cellar complete with toothpick's holder).
The double salt cellar measures 3 1/2 in. (cm. 8,5).
Beware!! Today most of the Russian silver and Judaica silver are new or fake
