silver pastry server by Schott - GermanyInformation about this maker is kindly supplied by Charles C. Cage: Firma Johann Heinrich Ph. Shott Söhne - is Wolfgang Scheffler, 'Goldschmiede Hesse', Frankfurt aM # 548 mark #327. This mark was used into the 1840s. Johann Martin Shottıs widow ran his workshop with the assistance of Philipp Heinrich Friedrich Wülcker, Jr. (Master 1829), who married Shottıs daughter Anna and eventually inherited the firm. Also, there are subtle differences in the eagle/13 mark from the 18th to the 19th century, and the square outline of the 13 on this ladle - as well as the design - makes me think it dates from around 1830. It has a rich rococo engraving on the flat side. The fiddle thread handle is decorated on the reverse with a floral monogram. The pastry server is 11 in. long (cm. 27) and was bought by a German dealer through the Internet. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
