antique silver 'topo' or 'tupo' (pin spoon) - Bolivia





silver tupo or topo this is a silver pin with a large spoon finial and another couple of small spoons at its side, made in Bolivia, presumably in 20th century.
This unusual pins were used by women indios (or 'cholas') to shut down their shawls.
The pin is unmarked and engraved with floral motifs, side scrolls and a bird on its bowl.
It is 9 in. long (cm. 23) and was bought by an US dealer through the Internet.
