Gorham silver dance card holder (memo pad or memo tablet) - USA
This is a sterling silver dance card holder (memo pad or memo tablet) made by Gorham Silver Co in 1899.
It has a ring suitable to be attached to a chatelaine and contains four pages of so called " French ivory", which was a material made of celluloid so that pencilled notes were easily cleaned and the pages were reusable.
It has full Gorham mark (lion, anchor and G) and "sickle" symbol correspondingto 1899 date.
The 'dance card holder' (memo pad, memo tablet) is 2 3/4 in. high (cm. 7) and was bought from an US dealer through the Internet.
