Berndorf Metalware Factory silver plate creamer - AustriaThe Berndorf Metalware Factory was founded in 1843 by Prussian businessman Hermann Krupp and his Austrian partner Alexander von Schoeller in Berndorf near Vienna. The success of this foundry was conditioned by the development of Alpacca, the copper-nickel- zinc alloy. Berndorf Factory used in most of its marks a standing bear inside a circular outline. A wide article about Berndorf's marks written by Prof. David N. Nikogosyan was published in Silver Magazine, May/June 2008 edition. This Alpacca creamer, marked with "ART:KRUPP BERNDORF" and "bear", presents also a decorative mark of the Italian dealer "DITTA GIACOMUZZI FU ANG/VENEZIA" (firm of Antonio Giacomuzzi son of +Angelo- Venice, Italy). It contains 15 cl of liquid. Two of the images of this creamer were published in "The Silver Lining" of Silver Magazine, July/August 2008 edition. The creamer is 3 1/2 in high (cm. 9) and was a kind gift from a friend. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
