silver dance card holder (carnet de bal) - Italy
This is an 'official' silver dance card holder offered to ladies partecipating to the ball held on February 7, 1910 at the Italian Court in the Palazzo del Quirinale in Rome.
It consists of a rectangular silver holder with the Royal Crown in gold and the coats of arms of the Savoy's House in red and white enamel. A 13 in. chain links the finger's ring (with the Savoy's Knot, symbol of the Royal House) and the pencil.
The card holder preserves in its interior the original dance's program with a hand-written note of the lady who partecipated in 1910 to the 'Ballo a corte'.
The card holder is marked in the back with maker's name 'UGO FRILLI FIRENZE'.
The 'dance card holder' is 3 1/4 in. high (cm. 8) and was bought from an US dealer through the Internet.
