NAPIER COMPANY - Meriden CT Company started in 1875 by E.A. Bliss and J.E. Carpenter. Originally called
Carpenter & Bliss, became the E.A. Bliss Co. from 1883. Moved to Meriden in 1890. In 1920 the company changed its name in Napier-Bliss Co.
and in 1922 the name Napier Company was adopted. In the 1920s, Napier Co, designed bracelets, earrings, and necklaces in the Art Deco, Art Nouveau, Cubist, and various revivalist styles. During the 1930s, the company produced little jewelry, focusing instead on giftware. The Napier Co. was bought by Victoria & Company in 1999 and its Meriden plant closed. |

NEW AMSTERDAM SILVER CO |

NEWBURYPORT SILVER CO - Keene, NH Founded in Newburyport, Mass, by seven Massachusetts men in 1902, the company incorporated in 1903. The firm made a full line of sterling tableware, both flat and hollow, as well as souvenir spoons and novelties for the New England and national markets. In 1904, production was moved to Jones Building on Church Street, Keene NH, reportedly with some local financial support. By 1908, the company employeed 40 craftesman and about a dozen salesman. The company was closed by bankruptcy in 1915.
