PARKS BROS. & ROGERS - Providence, RI Founded in 1892 by Geo.W. Parks, Wm. C. Parks and Everett I Rogers. Out of business c. 1930. In 1891 they bought the electroplated goods branch of Howard Sterling Co.
The mark with the four-leaf clover surrounded by STERLING in horseshoe shape isn't present in Rainwater's books. Parks Bros & Rogers used a mark of similar shape with the writing SOLID GOLD (Dorothy T. Rainwaters, American Jewelry Manufacturers, page 186) and various other marks with horseshoe and flower. Possibly the right to use the trademark was obtained in 1891 transaction.

FRANK PATANIA, Sr. - Santa Fe, NM and Tucson, AZ The Thunderbird Shop originated in Santa Fe, New Mexico at The Plaza in 1927. In 1938, Frank Sr. discovered Tucson while looking for a winter home for his business. Frank Patania and his brother Carmelo were makers of Native American style jewelry, boxes and small items. Succeeded in 1964 by his son Frank Patania Jr. and in 1979 by his grandson Samuel Patania. The shop was renamed Patania's Sterling Silver Originals in 1996. |

KARL POUL PETERSEN - Montreal, Canada Carl Poul Petersen was born in Denmark in 1895 died in Montreal in
1977. He apprenticed with Georg Jensen between 1908 and 1913, and eventually became a Master Silversmith himself. He married Jensen's
daughter, Inger, in 1922. Then they moved to Montreal, Canada in 1929 at the very start of the depression and was employed by Henry Birks
& Son as their master goldsmith in 1932. Briefly independent (1937 to 1939) he returned to Birks in 1939. Five years later he left Birks,
and started his own business, which remained in operation until 1975. He crafted jewellery, flatware, tea sets, serving pieces, bar sets, etc.
They are all of very high quality, and are highly collectible. |

POND - Baltimore, MD Theodore Hanford Pond (born in Beirut, Syria from American parents, 1872-1933) was a designer for textiles, interior decorations, wall papers, stained glass, silverware, jewelry, book covers and decorations. Active in New York City, Boston, Providence, Rochester and Baltimore, 1893-1914, worked also as wood carver, potter, silversmith and jeweler. A long career as teacher, educator, lecturer, Museum and Art Institute director between 1896-1931. |

POOLE SILVER CO - Taunton, MA Manufacture of plated silverware established in 1893 as Poole & Roche. Later, Poole bought the full control and managed the company until his death. Poole was succeded by his three sons until 1946 when they retired and sold the company to a group headed by Sidney A. Kane. In 1946 was opened a sterling silver department, in 1950 the Bristol Silver divison for popular plated holloware and in 1964 the brass division. The company was bought by Towle Mfg Co in 1971.
Poole is now (2020) property of Lifetime Brands, Inc. owner of other historic brands as Gorham, International Silver, Kirk Stieff, Towle Silversmiths, Tuttle and Wallace.
